Helia was friendly and responsive

Magi Aurora
Helia was friendly and responsive. We were a bit surprised that accommodations were spread over three establishments that were not immediately next to each other, which would have been helpful to know in the description. Overall, the ranch is fun to explore. The house was comfortable and had character. It was a magical and unique experience.

The grounds were gorgeous and Heila was very responsive throughout our stay

About this space

“Awesome eclectic and artistic place for a group/family in Mendocino” – Annie Welcome to Mendocino Stone Ranch Compound, a truly unique escape that brings together 3 distinct & beautifully crafted spaces into one unforgettable retreat. This compound combines The Adobe House, The Redstone House, & The Yurt. Surrounded by towering redwoods, sweeping ocean views, & handcrafted stone art installations. This is a place where nature, creativity, & peaceful living come together seamlessly.

The space

FEATURED ON ABC – CELEBRATED FOR ITS ARTISTRY & NATURAL BEAUTY!

Set among towering coastal redwoods with sweeping ocean views, the Mendocino Stone Ranch is home to over 30 handcrafted stone installations, winding forest trails, and peaceful outdoor spaces that invite exploration, reflection, and connection. This is not just a place to stay, but a living work of art.

Mendocino Stone Ranch began in 2002 as the inspired vision of Peter Joseph Mullins, who transformed a quiet woodland property into a sanctuary of stone, forest, and imagination. For over two decades, Peter welcomed master stonemasons from around the world to leave their mark on the land, resulting in arches, towers, mosaics, and sculptural forms thoughtfully woven into the landscape.

Today, the ranch spans walkable forest acreage where redwood canopies filter coastal light, ocean air drifts through the trees, and stonework reveals itself around every bend. Guests are invited to wander, pause, and experience the rare blend of craftsmanship and wilderness that defines this property.

The Fish Rock Tower is especially remarkable, designed with a lime mortar that actually strengthens with every rainfall — one of Mullins’ prized masterpieces.

This listing is a compound made up of three separate accommodations, not one single house.

• The property includes The Adobe House, The Redstone House, and The Yurt
• The Adobe House and Yurt are located near each other
• The Redstone House is located across the road from the Adobe House
• The Yurt is a glamping-style accommodation, not a traditional home
• These are separate structures, each with its own entrance
• Guests will share the land and experience, but not one single interior living space

This property is ideal for large groups who are comfortable being split across multiple buildings while gathering outdoors, on decks, and throughout the shared forest spaces.

If your group prefers everyone sleeping under one roof with a single shared living room, this may not be the right fit.
Across the ranch, each dwelling offers its own character while sharing a common sense of harmony with the land.

🏡 The Adobe House
The Adobe House features warm textures, intentional design, and open interiors filled with natural light. Mornings here are best spent on the deck with coffee in hand, taking in forest and ocean views before the day unfolds.

🏡 The Redstone House
The Redstone House feels like an extension of the forest itself, with stone pathways and art installations leading directly from the patio into the surrounding landscape. Cozy, grounded, and deeply connected to nature, it is a favorite gathering spot for evenings and conversation.

🎪 The Yurt (Glamping-Style)
The Yurt offers a charming glamping-style retreat, blending simplicity with comfort. Nestled quietly among the trees, it provides a unique and peaceful sleeping space that feels both adventurous and serene.

Please note: The Yurt is not a traditional house. It offers a cozy, nature-forward sleeping experience and is ideal for adventurous guests, couples, teens, or overflow accommodations. Guests expecting a hotel-style bedroom should plan accordingly.

Together, these three spaces create a shared yet spacious compound, allowing guests to gather easily outdoors and across decks while still enjoying privacy and quiet moments of retreat.

Perfect For:
• Larger groups or family gatherings who want shared spaces and privacy
• Creative retreats, milestone celebrations, and coastal adventures
• Guests who love art, nature, and wandering scenic trails

Explore winding paths through redwood forest, discover stone installations at every turn, or simply relax on the decks with ocean breezes and forest light.

Located just minutes from some of the most beautiful coastal and forest attractions on the Mendocino and Sonoma coast, this property offers both peaceful seclusion and easy access to nature and small‑town amenities.

Guests are just a short drive from the ocean — Gualala Point Regional Park with its scenic bluff trails, river estuary, and sandy beach along the Pacific is approximately 5–7 minutes (about 2–3 miles) by car and offers walking paths, picnic areas, whale‑watching spots, and beach access along rugged coastline.

Roughly 5–6 minutes (about 3 miles) north you’ll find Cooks Beach, a sandy cove perfect for tidepool exploration and quiet beach walks, while Gualala Bluff Trail offers an easy stroll with panoramic views over the river estuary and ocean.

The scenic Sea Ranch area lies just a short 7–10 minute drive south and includes several coastal access beaches such as Stengel Beach, Pebble Beach, and Black Point Beach Access, each offering dramatic cliffs, tide pools, and sunset views.

Active travelers will also appreciate Gualala River Redwood Park (about 6–8 minutes by car), where you can kayak or canoe along the serene Gualala River or enjoy riverside picnics and playgrounds amid towering trees.

For a classic Northern California lighthouse experience and panoramic coastal views, the historic Point Arena Lighthouse is a ~25–30 minute drive north — a perfect day trip destination with trails and a museum at the top of the 115‑foot tower.

Even though the property feels tucked away, you’re close to it all but just far enough to enjoy the quiet. The surrounding area also has small galleries like Gualala Arts Center, local eateries, and the scenic road along Highway 1 — ideal for relaxed drives and discovering hidden coastal coves and viewpoints.

“We stayed for 5 days and were still discovering more beautiful art and quiet spots and wildlife on the last day.” – David
